Brands

Anyone can make a product, but what’s a product without an identity? That’s where branding comes in. Having a specific identity, or brand, to a product lets consumers know what they’re buying and whom they’re buying from. Having creditability is the upmost importance because no one is going to buy something from someone that does not know what he or she is doing. It’s like going to the dentist and having the receptionist clean your teeth.

Brands also let more than just the product be the main course of the meal. Selling other products with your brand attached to it makes the worth of the company more, because it lets your business be more versatile. For example, Coca-Cola, personally I’m super bias for Coca-Cola and it is more than just a soft drink to me. I have so many Coca-Cola paraphernalia it is hard not to know my favorite soft drink, but I don’t just love the taste of Coca-Cola. The logo of Coca-Cola has not changed once since it’s debut in 1886 as the nonalcoholic version of French Wine Coca. It’s a classic and the most well known brand around the world and it’s known as the “American Brand”; everyone wants their brand to be known like the brand Coca-Cola.

This is my dedication to Coca-Cola + sodas in the fridge

Along with the brand, Coca-Cola has also done countless radio and television advertisements. A company does have to keep on top of its consumer audience and remind consumers why their product is the best. Having a catchy slogan or a song attached to the advertisement can help the audience remember your brand because they’ll have something to associate it with. Also with television ads having a famous individual or group promote the product can help improve sales because everyone wants to be like their icon. Coca-Cola used Elvis Presley, The Beatles, David Bowie, Elton John and Whitney Houston for their commercials all around the world. But not every endorsement comes out successful and that is something a company has to gamble on, but it is more important to send your brand with your name attached to the product out into the world, because if no one knows who you are then they’re not going to buy any product of yours.

  1. Good focus, Katelin. I love your obsession with Coca Cola .... and you mention some great examples of celebrity endorsement. Why don't you look at that some more?
